The red side feels like proper costume fabric, not that cheap scratchy stuff, and the bat emblem on the black side is stitched on tight—my son's already yanked it through two wears without any fraying. He loves flipping it himself mid-play, which is exactly why I grabbed this.

My daughter flips it to the bat side every morning before preschool—the yellow emblem really pops against the black satin, and the mask fits snug enough that it stays put during her superhero missions. The red reverse is a nice backup when she wants to switch things up mid-play.
