My grandson is just starting to read on his own, and this retelling of Brer Rabbit hooked him right away. The picture clues on each page gave him just enough support to tackle the trickier words without getting frustrated. We've already read it three nights in a row.

The rhythmic text makes this one surprisingly fun to read out loud, and the pictures are engaging enough that my daughter grabbed it before I could even finish the first page. She’s a brand-new reader and the short lines give her just enough confidence to try the words herself. A solid pick for bedt

The rhythmic text is a big win for bedtime practice—my son actually tries to predict the next rhyming word now. Only wish the pictures had a bit more detail to keep him lingering on the pages.
